Rhodium Demand Pushes Prices to Sustained High Levels

Net rhodium demand rose by 1.2% in 2006 to a record 837,000 troy ounces (oz), compared to 827,000 oz in 2005, driven largely by growth in the autocatalyst sector. At the same time, supplies onto the market increased by 9%, to 824,000 oz.The net effect is that the rhodium market was still in deficit in 2006, although by less than the 73,000 oz in 2005. David Jollie, editor of Platinum 2007, explains the reasons behind high rhodium prices.
